Summary: A Great Companion to your TV/DVD Combo
Comment: I must admit that I am a Bose fan. I have a Bose 321, in ear headphones, radio, speakers in my SUV and just recently the Cinemate system. The Bose Cinemate theater speaker system is a must have if you want to upgrade the sound of your TV,DVD and or VCR output. There is ease of setup and operation with sound worthy of comfort in any small room. I have mine hooked up in my bedroom. I have not heard complaints from my neighbors as yet, but I've noticed that my wife has bugun to crank up the volume as well. Once the system is set up there is nothing to do but to turn it on and off as desired. The television speakers are turned off during setup, so your equalizer settings of your TV provide the desired Bass and treble. I have had to reduce the base and volume settings while listening to some CDs, but other than that I just turn it on as needed. An interesting feature is the universal nature of the remote when correctly setup. One can control other devices with the Cinemate remote. Pick one up and be prepared for a pretty lively room.

Summary: Great System for Price and Convenience!!
Comment: The Bose Cinemate was very very simple to install, but be sure to follow the directions. It is important to shut off the internal speakers on your tv, and also set your audio to "fixed" and not "variable" for best quality. The sound is very crisp and clear, the only reason I give it a 4 rather than a 5 is because you can't adjust the subwoofer, and it does lack a little bass. The universal remote is the best I have seen...it works for my Sony TV, Sony DVD player, and my Motorola DVR cable box!! So I went from 4 remotes (got rid of the old stereo too) to having it all on one!! I've read a lot of reviews about not putting the Cinemate in a large room, but I have mine in my basement family room which is 14x24 and it sound great...but lacks a little bass. You can't get a better system for the price and it has the Bose quality I've come to trust!

Summary: bose cinemate sucks
Comment: Got the bose cinemate as a wedding gift. Totally overpriced. nothing special at alll. would rather listen to the speakers on the t.v. In convenient to use as well as nothing special to listen to. Total dissappointment. No hdmi total pain to turn on/off volume up/down. Would rather have a stick in the eye than a Bose Cinemate

Summary: Sounds Great, Looks Great, Costs too much
Comment: I have owned the Bose CineMAte for 3 years now. I just replaced this with the Boston Acoustic MCS 130 surround package and a Sony reciever, all bought for around $600. if you have $500 to spend, buy a reciever and pick out your own speaker system like a polk audio system for $200 and another $200 on a reciever. It will cost less and kick harder. To the CineMate's defense, If you dont want to set up speakers around the room and run the wire and buy the reciever, the CineMate is undoubtedly very attractive and idiot proof to set up. it DOES sound fantastic, it really projects the screen well, and if you have an ideal set up with correct speaker placement, the Cinemate really does bounce sound from your sides, freaky sometimes. You are paying for the name and look in this system I am afraid, I would buy this for every tv if was around $200 . If you are not looking to go all out and want something idiot proof to use for non audiophiles and is very attractive and you like to show off fancy names, I strongly recomend the Cinemate. I also Purchased the Bose Universal floor stands wich will set you back another $100. for best use, make sure speakers are lined to the center of tv 1 foot away on either side, Follow Instructions if you want things to work right.

Summary: KEEP LOOKING! DON'T BUY THIS!
Comment: I've owned this system for about a year and I feel compelled to write a few lines here. I am in the process of looking for another system as I write this. This system is WAY overpriced. Without writing too much here, I'll just say I agree with the other reviewers. For the amount of money spent on this you could do MUCH better. DO NOT be taken in by their advertising!. I was. I've always "respected" Bose...and it cost me this time. I won't repeat what the others have said, but trust me, they're right. This is a big investment for most people, and I STRONGLY suggest you do more research before buying these. If not, and you appreciate good sound and features, you'll regret it...I sure did.
11/29...I'd like to add that my main point here is the cost. Yes they sound good (I still think the sub is lacking though)and yes they're Bose, but Bose isn't the only company that makes quality audio equipment. Again, if you have that kind of money to spend, I STRONGLY recommend that you do a lot of research. You can get a lot more "bang for your buck".
