Summary: Can't get it to play Region
Comment: Did everything review told me to. Tray open - No disc - pointed remote and hit 9879 then 0 . Nothing happened. It will only play Region 1. PHILIPS DVP3140 - ALL REGION CODEFREE MULTI SYSTEM DVD PLAYER WITH DivX. PLAYS PAL/NTSC DVDS FROM ANY COUNTRY ON NTSC TV. REMOTE INCLUDED.

Summary: Plays Region 2/PALs Perfectly
Comment: I just bought this for Christmas '08 so I can watch region 2/PAL DVDs -- hooked it up to my TV in 5 minutes, changed the color setting to NSTC, popped a region 2 DVD in and it played perfectly. No need to enter any codes at all. Great price, too -- so don't miss out on region 2 DVDs! Get this and you'll be good to go.

Comment: We purchased several DVD's from our trip to China this summer but did not have a multiregion player to view them with. I purchased this one, just pluged it in, and it worked great! I did not have to enter any special code, it works with both our US discs and the ones we purchased in China.

Summary: B&W picture
Comment: I read all the glowing reviews about this DVD player. I purchased one. I dont' know if the player is defective or not, but it played back in Black and White picture. After about 20 minutes the picture went to color.
I tried to adjust the controls with the menu button. I had no success. It did play the PAL format perfectly. Because of the effort I had to take to return it I decided to junk it. All othe DVD Players worked fine on the TV I was using.
